Axon is a dance performance, choreographed by Allen Kajea and interpreted by students in the Ryerson Dance program. I created the backdrop projections for the performance using a generative approach. The visual were rendered in real-time by custom software and driven by the position and movements of dancers of stage, sometimes as many as 18 at a time. The performance featured seven distinct visual movements, each following the progression of the dance.
About Axon: (An axon is a long, slender projection of a nerve cell, that conducts electrical impulses away from the neuron’s cell body) Inspired by our insatiable thirst for knowledge, intimacy and eternal search for humanity
